Significant Structural Details
- Functional design, with lower and higher ceilings sweeping up in opposite directions
- Has a concrete beam supporting the clerestory window
- Has a small brick wall on the narthex Exterior & interior finish of plain brick and exposed concrete blocks, with a red clay tile floor
- Chancel furniture is solid brick and concrete assembled with economy of line
- Has a smoked glass bowl which forms the baptismal font
- Dominating the exterior & the interior appearance is the large plain cross
- The cross on the interior erected in Sept 1963, was made from a tall tamarack tree
which once grew on the site which has been overlaid with a Cherry coloured wood to match the furniture at the front of the church
- Present church begun & completed in 1963
Historical Details of Westminster United Church
- Need for a Sunday school in the area established by survey in June 1954
- Sunday school held in Balsam Street School - Oct 1954 – 101 children and 21 adults
- Establishment of the adult church and name Westminster United selected in March 1956
- Portable church established on Melvin & Dobie Street site in 1958
- Above site exchanged in June of 1962 for the permanent site at present location
- First service in present church Dec 22 1963 Northland Parish established summer of 1970, team ministry of Rev. Ken Rentz & Rev, Bob Stiven established
